THE RENSHAW FAMILY: DEREK, CHRISTINA, TITUS, ANDREW, AND ELAINA
MINISTRY – Currently serving at Hunt Valley Baptist Church in Hunt Valley, Maryland
I graduated from Fairhaven Baptist College with a pastoral theology degree in 2013 and completed my masters the following summer. My wife graduated with an elementary education degree in 2012. Upon graduating, I took a position as an assistant pastor at Hunt Valley Baptist Church outside of Baltimore, MD. I have been here for almost six years now and am so thankful for the opportunity I have to serve the Lord. As an assistant pastor, I am involved in many aspects of the ministry at our church. I am able to work as the Youth and Children’s Pastor as well as overseeing our church’s Master Clubs program that ministered to 40 children last fall. My other primary responsibility at the church is overseeing the maintenance and construction. God has blessed our family by allowing our ministry to exceed beyond just the doors of our church and community. In the last few years, we have been able to travel to and preach in many other churches in our area, often bringing our teens with us in order to be a blessing to these churches. We also have the privilege to be heavily involved with a children’s summer camp hosted by another church in our area.
As we seek to always do more for God in reaching and discipling people, we are constantly challenging ourselves to do more with the talents that God has given us. At the beginning of this year, the pastors at our church made a three and a half year commitment to write a daily devotional on each chapter of the Bible to send out through email. This has been a joy and a challenge. If you would like to receive these, you can subscribe to them at our church website. – 1 Timothy 1:12
My wife Christina and I just celebrated our fifth anniversary at the beginning of this month. God has blessed us with two boys, Titus and Andrew. In September, our family will welcome our first baby girl, Elaina Mercy. We really enjoy serving the Lord together as a family. My boys love to mow the grass at the church, and my wife serves with me in the teen and children’s ministries. It is amazing what God allows us to be a part of as we seek to serve Him with our whole lives. Most recently, God allowed our family to take a vacation to Alaska for almost two weeks. The boys had a blast seeing the wildlife and playing in the rivers. After catching her first salmon, my wife was “hooked.” God is good!
