Summer 2009
We have had a wonderful, busy spring. The annual Preaching Conference was a great challenge with many, many good results. I think we saw a good number of life-changing decisions. My counseling has been enjoyable. Please put the dates of April 26-29 aside for next year's meetings. We have asked Dr. Don Green from Lansing, Michigan; Dr. Wilbert Unger from Ontario, Canada; Dr. R. B. Ouellette from Bridgeport, Michigan; and Dr. Rodger Bottrell from Lyons, New York, to preach in 2010.
We are excited that my son-in-law Don Whitecar has answered the call to go to Belize in Central America as a missionary. He, our daughter Debbie, and their three children will start deputation in one year and plan to arrive in Belize a year and a half later. Our church loves them, and they will be sorely missed; however, we have known for years that God was calling them elsewhere, so it's exciting to know where. He plans to start a church in Belize City and a school shortly thereafter. We as a church are looking forward to helping.
Vandals burned our pavilion to the ground recently. It was very nice with a full kitchen and bathrooms, etc. The men of the church built it originally, but we will use the insurance money to have it re-built professionally.
Dr. Wilbert Unger preached for our college graduation May 14. He is always soul stirring and a blessing. I praise God for his friendship.
It is more thrilling all the time to see our graduates going out into the fields all around the world. One hundred eighty were able to come to our conference, and there are hundreds more in God's service. I never realized when we started Fairhaven Baptist College in 1977 the impact it would have. After 33 years, though, pastors, assistant pastors, missionaries, evangelists, and Christian school teachers have been continually sowing, and there is a wonderful harvest.
