Kari Allison
The high school students at Madison Baptist Academy were encouraged by their principal to live up to his slogan, "Training Soldiers for the Cross." He stressed, "Do your best that you might better serve the Lord." Kari Allison focused on this principle and tried to prepare early to equip herself for whatever God wanted her to do. Kari's parents, Pastor and Mrs. Mike Allison, taught her the importance of using her time wisely. Her schedule was full of extracurricular activities along with responsibilities in church ministries, yet she was expected to keep her grades up. Kari's principal would say, "A student who seeks to please God, always does his or her best, and displays the right attitude in or out of class is an outstanding student," and she was honored as being this type of student.
Kari came to college knowing that Fairhaven would help her both academically and spiritually to continue training for full-time service. As a senior now, she is student teaching in high school classes and works with the senior high youth group. She says teens are quite a challenge, and she is learning firsthand how to deal with the pressures and hardships that affect teens today. Kari is completing a secondary education degree in business and science to prepare to teach her own children or others on the mission field. Her primary goal is to obtain a master's degree in nursing to qualify for the position of nurse practitioner. She presently works at a local hospital as a certified nurse's aide.
Being a part of the Empowered Youth Conference, singing in the college ensemble and ladies' ensemble, being at the Winter Olympics in Utah to help with a soulwinning endeavor, college skiing activities, trips to Chicago, and the Volleyball Marathon are some of the many activities that add experience, entertainment, relaxation, and fun to Kari's busy schedule. She has thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of college life.
Kari plans to teach at her home church while pursuing her medical education and then use her training on the mission field.
